Nizza Riserva DOCG Generala
Piemonte, Italy
Barbera
Small wood, 12 months
The foundation of the powerful Generala Nizza Riserva from Piedmont is the Barbera grape variety. Generala Nizza Riserva is an Old World wine in the best sense of the term, as this Italian exudes an extraordinary European charm that emphasizes the success of Old World wines. The climate of the cultivation region undeniably influences the maturation of the Barbera grapes for this wine. In Piedmont, the grapes thrive in a relatively cool climate, reflected, among other things, in especially long and uniform grapes and a somewhat moderate must weight. When perfectly matured, the grapes for Generala Nizza Riserva are exclusively hand-picked, without the aid of coarse, less selective grape harvesters. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately brought to the winery, where they are selected and carefully crushed. They are then fermented in small wooden vessels at controlled temperatures. This fermentation is followed by 12 months of aging in oak barrels.
